AccuDock aluminum gangways are available in lengths up to 80' and 3',4',5', & 6' widths as well as custom widths, for residential, commercial or ADA use. By purchasing your gangway/ramp from the same manufacturer of your dock - you can rest assured that when it comes to installing (whether you attach directly to our dock or atop our dock with rollers) - that your gangway will connect and function perfectly with your AccuDock Floating dock platform.
HINGE PLATES: Our 1/2 inch aluminum hinge plate with aluminum pin, for attaching a gangway directly to a fixed surface, results in a safe, smooth, easy roll over surface from your deck to our gangway - no trip hazard.
Hinge plate definition: A hinged system between a gangway and a fixed
surface or floating dock for anchoring/fixing the gangway in position
securely, while allowing the gangway to pivot with fluctuating water levels.
The gangway hinge plate can attach the gangway to land/a fixed position
structure like a pier or fixed dock and/or a floating dock platform.

ROLLER PLATES: Accudock roller plates are constructed out of ½ inch high density polyethylene and thru-bolted to our floating docks.
Roller Plate definition: A sturdy surface plate that is placed over another surface such as a floating dock, which bears the brunt of wear & tear caused by the movement of the gangway rollers back and forth as a result of wave and tidal fluctuations.
GANGWAY ROLLERS: American made, long lasting polyurethane rollers for smooth gangway movement.
ADA FEATURES:
ADA Definition: The Americans with Disabilities Act
EDGE PROTECTION DEFINITION: refers to a raised rail provided along the edge of an accessible gangway, to prevent a person with a disability from accidentally going over the edge and into the water.

Gangway Installation Options:
Gangways installed with floating docks, may be installed in a number of different ways: Fixed/hinged on Land, Rolling on Land, Fixed/hinged onto a floating dock, rolling on a floating dock:
FIXED/HINGED ON LAND:
ROLLING ON LAND:
FIXED/HINGED ONTO A FLOATING DOCK:
In the case of a gangway attached to the side of the floating dock with a hinge, additional floatation is required to compensate for the added weight of the extended gangway - so as to not tip the floating dock down on the gangway side. This also assists in the installation and connection of the gangway to the floating dock, as the gangway floats independently, until attached to the floating dock.
Additional information: A Gangway must not be relied upon to hold a free floating or anchored dock in its position. The gangway may act as the "spacer"
between the land side and the floating dock, but cannot handle the sideways pressures and torques of wind and currents upon the floating dock. In this case, additional "strong-arms" or cabling as well as anchoring, can be used to control sideways movement of the floating dock. See illustration below:
Note: In the case of a hinge plate being used on both ends of a gangway (to attach to a fixed structure and to a floating dock) the floating dock platform MUST NOT be attached to pilings that hold it in position - and must be allowed to move freely to allow for the change in scope (distance between the float and fixed end of the gangway) due to water level change or tides. See picture and illustration below:
ROLLING ON A FLOATING DOCK SURFACE:
In the case of a gangway/ramp rolling on the surface of the float a roller plate is used - see
Roller Plates above.
