FLOATING DOCKS FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)
1. What sizes do they come in?
DOCK SIZES: Our floats are also available in 6", 12" and 16" heights, as well as any custom size from
2" - 98 inches in height.

2. How much weight do the different sizes hold? See the Specs Section - a 4 X 8 X 8" is rated
to 1055 lbs. 4 X 8 X 16" holds over 2000 lbs!
3. What are they made out of? HDPE (high density polyethylene) - the same material high
quality truck bed liners are made of. It is very durable and takes a "beating". Doesn't fade or
crack or peel.
Floating docks used in Marinas around the world, whether in northern climates, or in the
Caribbean, use floats constructed from polyethylene - it is the product of choice when manufacturing floatation.
4. What makes it float? There is a block of foam (polystyrene) inside the float - not just air!
An entire block of polyethylene is "shoe-horned" into our floats to ensure a very tight fit - which
provides added protection in the event of an unfortunate accident - our floats will not sink if
punctured! In fact we can put whatever quality of foam inside your floats that your specs
require - no one else can do that.
See our cross-section drawing of a typical AccuDock float on the Specs Page.
5. Are AccuDock Framed Floats portable? Yes. Our largest and heaviest float (5 X 8) only
weighs 115 pounds - easily manageable by two persons. When winter comes - the dock is easy
to remove. Just disconnect the sections one by one and pull them out and store them in a maximum 5 X 8 space (one atop another as high as you have room).

Put the sections together and slide it into the water. If you have a nearby boat ramp - you can
assemble it and float it to your home with a boat.
6. How do they connect together? We utilize a marine grade aluminum frame system that
allows one to easily and rigidly connect the individual floats together end to end (2 - 4
X 8 floats make a 4 X 16), side to side (2 - 4 X 8 floats make an 8 X 8), "L" , "T" or "U" shape -
whatever configuration you desire.
When our dock is connected together - it is one piece - no rocking or rolling between floats,
no marshmallow effect walking on them, no gaps between floats, just a nice clean stable
white flat surface that is "no maintenance" to clean - just wash it off.
See full instructions on How to Connect Floats Together
7. Can I connect and install my own dock? Yes. 75% of our customers, install their own
docks! See the How to Install section. Easy to follow instructions regarding installation
of all aspects and accessories are detailed there - including our patented Universal Slide Assembly.
8. Do they come in any other color than white? Yes, we make our docks white, as you could
be walking on the white floating dock surface when the temperature is 95 degrees. Any color
other than white results in a VERY HOT DOCK! You can deck the dock surface with any type of
wood, composite wood, or aluminum to present any style deck you choose - however we
suggest using the fully non-maintenance feature of our cool white surface docks. (note: if you
order 35 or more sections of dock - you can select whatever color you like including PINK!)
9. What is the Universal Slide Assembly and why does it make an Accudock dock so stable?
It is a patented heavy duty aluminum assembly that is fixed to a piling or seawall, holds
your dock firmly and stably like no other product on the market, and allows your dock to float
up and down with the tides. The assembly is then covered with a white PVC
cosmetic cover.
We have the most stable and secure way to install floating docks - as little as 2 1/2 feet wide,
that you can trust the safety of your children on - that in the past would tip immediately. Our
Slide Assemblies hold your dock firmly in place and your floating dock rides up and down with the waves and tidal changes - smoothly and evenly.

10. What if I don't have a piling or seawall, can I use an AccuDock floating dock and will it be
stable? There are many ways to rig a floating dock to your property and you can do them all
with an AccuDock Float. The larger your dock - the more stability you will have. Go to the
Installation Options Page for more information and options.
11. How do you ship them? We ship factory direct anywhere in the world. All we need is a zip
code/postal code and the destination city, and we can provide you a shipping estimate.
Our floats ship by truck - they are too large for UPS and FED-EX, and are delivered by large
trucking companies which provide two options: DELIVER TO YOUR HOME, OR DELIVER TO THE
NEAREST TRUCK DEPOT (there is an additional fee of $57 (usually) to deliver to your home).
We palletize our larger deliveries on oversized pallets, pad the corners, metal banding with 2 X
4 top bracing, and wrap the whole order in plastic = quality safe shipping.
