HOW TO INSTALL ACCUDOCK BUMP STRIPS

AccuDock offers a "P" profile bump strip as an accessory, which can be installed along the frame of our floating docks.

"P" profile bump strip gets "sandwiched" between the float lid lip and the aluminium frame, and two sided heavy duty tape assists in adhering it to the outside of the frame. See the image and drawing below.

If you have pre-ordered a floating dock from the AccuDock Factory and specified where you would like bump strip installed, your bump strip will be measured and cut to fit your dock, and installed on the float with mitered corners. $7.50 per foot.

Pre-ordered floating dock

Depending on the dock - all the bump strip may not be able to be installed prior to delivery - but will be cut to fit for you, so you can install it once the dock is connected together.

Uninstalled bump strip is shipped in 10' sections @ $5.50 per foot
Frame plug with bump strip (Corner bumper) @ $19 each

Bump Strip Intallation

AccuDock's new frame plugs with bump strip are available which makes self-installed bump strip easier to measure and install. Simply install the corner bump strip, measure the distance needed, cut and install it. NOTE: if you will be removing your float and storing it, you will not want to utilize the two sided tape backing on the bump strip - as it will make it almost impossible to take the floats apart at a later date. Just leave the tape covering on and install without using the two sided tape.

     0. Connect your dock together - instructions available in the HELP & SUPPORT section of our website for each dock.

  1. Insert your bump strip corners - tighten the set bolt that holds the corner in place.

  2. You will need to remove the bolts along the frame of the float where you will be installing the bump strip. If you are installing your own bump strip (10' sections) measure and cut a section(s) of bump strip - slide it under the float lip to ensure you have cut the correct length (remember you can always take a little off - but if you cut too short - it won't grow back!)

  3. Take the correctly measured piece and remove the 2-sided tape for about 3 or 4 feet - and slide the bump strip into place, remove more tape and continue to slide it into place along the frame. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT WHERE YOU WANT IT - THE TAPE IS VERY VERY STRONG AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO REMOVE IT ONCE IT HAS CONTACTED THE FRAME!

NOTE: if you will be removing your float and storing it, you will not want to utilize the two sided tape backing on the bump strip - as it will make it almost impossible to take the floats apart at a later date. Just leave the tape covering on and install without using the two sided tape.

  4. Use a drill to drill down thru the existing holes in the float lid, and reinsert the bolt and nuts.
