HOW TO INSTALL AND ASSEMBLE THE 4 X 8 KAYAK DOCK

Congratulations on your purchase of an AccuDock Kayak dock. The 4 X 8 Kayak dock will provide you with many hours of safe and easy entry and exit from your dock - and allow you to store your kayak right on the float which results in more time kayaking and less time lugging and toting your kayak around.

Here is our finished product: Fully assembly with 1 or 2 persons, should take around 1 hour.
4 X 8 KAYAK DOCK PLAN
Make sure you have the following parts and tools:
A Level to ensure PVC pipes are plumb (straight up and down vertically)
Wrenches and a power drill
1 - 4 X 8 FLOATING DOCK
1 set of kayak dock lower brackets with stainless hardware to attach to float:

1 set of upper brackets (one of the below depending on your installation needs)
Upper Brackets 4 X 8 Kayak Float
8" extension/ 12" extension Above dock extension

2 - 10' lengths of 4" schedule 40 PVC - not included with your dock. This can be purchased locally and is more expensive for us to ship (due to length) than it costs locally.

Two 4" PVC Caps:
Two PVC Caps

  1. Attach the bottom brackets to the 8' side of the float 8" - 10" from the ends, by drilling holes and bolting the lower bracket on firmly.
    Bottom Brackets

  2. Lower the float into the water and use it to stand on to attach the upper brackets and ensure that the PVC poles are totally plumb - straight up and down.

  3. Drop the sections of PVC down thru the lower brackets which will help keep the float in place while you adjust the position of the dock, and attach the upper brackets.

  4. Attach the first upper bracket to your dock.

    First Upper Bracket

  5. Position your first PVC pole so that it is totally straight vertically with a level - and down through both the upper and lower bracket - pound the pole into the seabed with a rubber mallet, or place a piece of wood over the top of the PVC pole (so that you do not damage the PVC) and pound it in at least 6" - but enough that the pole cannot move around at the seabed. When pounding in the PVC pole - you are not trying to pound it in so far that the entire pole cannot move at all - the upper bracket will hold the top, and the seabed will hold the bottom.

  6. Repeat step 5 on the second PVC piling - ensuring that it is straight vertically with the level.

  7. Trim any unwanted excess from the tops of the PVC pilings and attach the Pipe caps.

  8. Attach any accessories like cleats or bump strip - and your dock is installed - Congratulations.

  9. Watch this video on how to use this dock to get on and off your kayak:

It is very important to note during the video that it is next to impossible to tip the kayak and fall into the water - if you put your body weight on the kayak paddle - which acts as a stabilizer. The Paddle Technique - works because our float is at the same height as your kayak.

Congratulations on completing the installation of your 4 x 8 Kayak dock - please take a picture of your dock and send it to Kim@accudock.com.
