  • About the Client

The $10 million Devon Boathouse is a centerpiece of the Oklahoma City Boathouse District, serving as both the home of Oklahoma City University (OCU) Rowing and the headquarters for the Oklahoma City National High-Performance Center. This exceptional facility offers top-tier training grounds for aspiring Olympic rowers and kayakers.

Designed by Rand Elliott, Elliott & Associates Architects, the boathouse’s striking architecture is a signature element of the Oklahoma River’s revitalization. Its glass and polycarbonate facade creates a luminous interior, while its prow-like form makes a bold statement against the city skyline. The two-story boathouse boasts a spacious boat bay, the Ann Lacy Event Center, and expansive views of the Oklahoma River. At night, blue LED lights illuminate the building, complementing the district’s other iconic structures.

  • About the Project

The Devon Boathouse faced a unique challenge when constructing a dock along their riverfront property. The river’s retaining walls featured distinctive triangular cutouts, presenting a complex puzzle for traditional dock builders. Recognizing the need for a tailored solution, the Boathouse turned to AccuDock. With a reputation for crafting custom-engineered floating docks to fit any shape or depth, AccuDock was the perfect partner to overcome this design hurdle. With expertise in creating custom floating dock configurations ensured AccuDock was a perfect fit for the Devon Boathouse’s specific requirements.

  • About the Solution

The Devon Boathouse boasts a meticulously designed, custom dock system engineered to optimize water access and athlete performance. The layout features a combination of dock sizes to accommodate diverse rowing needs. Two expansive 10′ x 60′ docks provide ample space for equipment storage and team gathering, while a substantial 16′ x 85′ dock offers additional room for various water activities. A unique, custom-angled V-shaped dock enhances maneuverability and efficiency, and a dedicated 16′ x 100′ rowing dock provides a prime launch point for athletes. To ensure seamless transitions between land and water, two sturdy 8′ x 20′ aluminum ramps have been incorporated, complemented by robust heavy-duty control arms for added stability and security. AccuDock’s expertise in crafting tailored rowing dock solutions has culminated in a premier facility that elevates the Devon Boathouse to new heights.

  • About the Results

The Devon Boathouse is a cornerstone of local water sports, offering programs for all ages and hosting a variety of events, from competitive rowing to community activities. A successful partnership with AccuDock began with the Boat Houses triangular dock and has expanded to include a 7-lane start dock, multiple launch and portage docks, and other products throughout the facility. These upgrades have transformed the Devon Boathouse into a world-class training and competition venue, enhancing the athletes’ experience and attracting regional and national events.
